Both MedTech, BioBusiness and Medical Devices experts and innovators. The laboratories specialize in various Medical Science fields such as Anatomy, Pathology, Pathological Anatomy, Oncopathology, Histology, Comparative Morphology, Biotechnologies and Nanotechnologies. Since its founding in 1997 all products and services have been provided under the registered trade mark VisDocta®.
Philosophy Since its
inception the watchwords of VisDocta® RESEARCH have been, and remain
Innovation, enhancing a Green Environment and Safety for Scientific Research
Operators.
A few concise
milestones in the history of VisDocta® RESEARCH Laboratories In
October 2000 VisDocta® Research, after more than ten years of
research in the field of biological tissue preservation and transformation,
impregnation, imbibing natural and synthetic substances, vacuum technologies
and biocompatibility, patented and perfected advanced and innovative
technologies and methodologies for biological specimen naturalization and
preservation by impregnation utilizing hypobaric and hyperbaric systems.
In
achieving this goal VisDocta® RESEARCH designed, formulated, created
and produced a series of automated and programmable apparatuses, among them
vacuum units, refrigerated vacuum chambers, air units, differentiated
polymerising/curing devices, instruments and accessories. In collaboration with
several of the leaders in the polymer industry the laboratories formulated and prepared
a range of synthetic and natural polymers, polymerisation inductors,
concatenation accelerators and inhibitors with the aim of being pure, more
fluid, odourless, crystal clear and non-toxic, - a guarantee for a better
penetration, markedly improved micro and macro examinations, longer durability
and safe exposition.
The
importance and potentialities of these inventions led to the creation of the
“Biological Tissue Transformation and Naturalization” department, providing
biological material treatments and products and services for their production,
keeping in mind the need for constant innovation made possible by the close
collaboration between the VisDocta® RESEARCH departments,
coordinated by SR & ED Lead Director.
The Biological Material
Preservation Department continuously experiments with novel techniques,
apparatus and substances in the quest for even better performance results in
terms of moisture, colour maintenance, softness, polymer penetration, and
durability of the specimens to obtain better research and educational tools.
Also in
2000, the same year as the patent deposition, VisDocta® RESEARCH
started the manufacture of a wide range of specimens and a series of
specialized equipment; instruments, apparatus, systems, tools and chemical
products to enable museums, universities, hospitals, research institutes,
researchers and educators to have or achieve the same precise high quality
results as ours, operating in safety, even without prior experience.
All our
clients find the specimens produced utilising the innovative VisDocta® RESEARCH technologies
and methodologies indispensable tools for research and education in addition to
the advantages offered by being more visually attractive, softer to the touch,
non-toxic, formaldehyde and phenol free, and having excellent original colour
retention.
In
September 2001 VisDocta®
RESEARCH embarked on a series of scientific collaborations with
other Anatomical Institutes, which continue to this day.
During
2002 a program of studies, scientific research and experimental development on
an innovative cryogenic project in the biological science field was concluded
with the creation of apparatuses and techniques and a functioning productive
prototype that in addition to its application in scientific research, is also
ideal for production processes, for example in the preservation of fresh flora.
In July
2003 the Italian Lombardy Region New Economy, Research and Technological
Innovation Committee awarded VisDocta® RESEARCH the prize for scientific research,
experimental development and technological innovation which also sustains the
environment.
In the
period from December 2005 until March 2008 VisDocta® RESEARCH achieved a “World First” with the
“Naturalization” of a female specimen of Architeuthis Sanctipauli (Giant Squid)
for the MNHN Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle of Paris utilising our
patented technologies and methodologies. It was the first time ever that such a
process could be performed.
This challenge led to some important and surprising scientific
revelations and to new innovative technological solutions, opening up
interesting scientific and experimental approaches in the treatment field of
invertebrate animals and of particular tissues characterized, among the other
peculiarities, by the copious presence of minute ammonium fluid pouches.
In August 2008 VisDocta® RESEARCH deposited
a Patent Application for an
innovative range of antimicrobial compositions auto-activating at systemic
synergies with low or zero ecological impact.
Further information is available in
the Microbiology section.
In August 2008 VisDocta® RESEARCH deposited
a Patent Application in the field of
nanotechnology.
In May 2010 VisDocta® RESEARCH deposited
a Patent Application for an
innovative Medical Device. More information is available in the dedicated
section of this website.
In June 2011 VisDocta® RESEARCH perfected
an innovative process and substances
that do not depigment biological tissues and maintain the natural colour acting
through globular proteins such as Myoglobin.
In July 2011 VisDocta® RESEARCH was
selected by the Italian Government Agency for the Diffusion of Innovation
Technologies for an award as a 2011 Italian Innovator for one of its ground-breaking
Medical Device inventions.
Some Considerations
VisDocta® RESEARCH is a leader in the field of
Biological Material Naturalization, Impregnation and Preservation, focusing on
Scientific Research and Experimental Development, Innovation and High Quality
Production, Ecological and Environmental and Operator Protection.
VisDocta® RESEARCH has
maintained the focus of its attention on intellectual property, means, systems
and innovation, that permit the maximum and optimal control over the factors of
environmental protection reducing energy consumption and lessening pollution, so
optimising natural resources. Our processes are safer for operators, saving and
rationalizing the use of materials and energy resources, reducing the
ecological impact of the chemical substances used during the procedures
commonly associated with biological material preservation, in chemical,
physical, biological, anatomical and pathological laboratories, in sanitary and
medical structures, etc. The aim is to contribute to the finding of solutions
in the fields of environmental protection and of health preservation and the
security of laboratory operators: in this prospective VisDocta® RESEARCH more then
once has achieved and fulfilled its objective.
VisDocta®
RESEARCH is now dedicating
particular effort to life sciences.
